Automotive & Rail
Engines, cooling circuits, traction equipment and external vehicle aerodynamics.
What we work on
- Internal combustion engines: combustion chamber, piston thermal analysis (CHT)
- Air and exhaust systems, turbo feed lines
- Cooling circuits: radiator, water pump, thermostat, fan
- Traction converter and power electronics cooling
- Brake and transmission thermal management
- External vehicle aerodynamics, drag and soiling
Typical problems
On a high-output engine: combustion chamber simulations, piston thermal analysis under extreme load (conjugate heat transfer), and detailed design plus 3D analysis of air and exhaust systems.
Capturing centrifugal pumps with no CAD data by laser scanning and validating them against test results. Analysing the radiator group used for traction converter cooling together with its axial fan, compared against supplier test data.
Technical notes for this field

- Brake and exhaust heat: protecting the neighbours
- Tunnel entry pressure wave in rail systems
- Thermal management and runaway in a battery pack
- Turbochargers: the gap between the map and real operation
- Electric vehicles: one circuit, many consumers
